What is the Split PDF tool?
Split PDF lets you pull a subset of pages out of any PDF document and save them as a brand new file. It's the fastest way to share just the relevant chapter of a long report, isolate a single invoice from a monthly statement, or carve a textbook into manageable sections.
You stay in control: type a range like 1-3,5,7-9 and we'll keep exactly those pages in exactly that order. The original file is never modified — you always get a new PDF to download.
How to split a PDF
- Drop your PDF onto the page or click 'Choose files' to pick it from your device.
- Use the live page preview to spot the pages you want, then type a range like 2-4,7,10-12 — commas separate ranges, hyphens describe spans.
- Click 'Convert & download' to receive a new PDF containing only the pages you selected, in the order you listed them.
Why use our Split PDF tool?
- Mix individual pages and ranges in a single expression — e.g. 1,4-6,9 — so you don't have to split multiple times.
- Live thumbnail preview shows which pages will be kept and which will be excluded before you commit.
- Original page order, embedded fonts, links and form fields are preserved exactly.
- Files are processed in-memory and discarded the moment your download starts — nothing is stored.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I reorder the pages while I split?
Yes. The order you write the range in is the order the new PDF will use. '3,1,2' produces a PDF where page 3 comes first.
What happens to bookmarks and links?
Bookmarks that point to pages you keep are retained. Internal links inside the kept pages still work; links pointing to pages you removed become inactive.
Is there a page-count limit?
You can split PDFs up to the standard upload size shown in the workspace. There is no extra fee or signup required for any size below that cap.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
Not directly. Unlock the document first with our Unlock PDF tool, then run Split PDF on the unlocked copy.
