What is the PDF to Excel Tool?
Our PDF to Excel tool turns the text content of any PDF into a structured spreadsheet. It scans each page for text and uses the X/Y position of each item to group entries into rows and columns — ideal for invoices, bank statements, financial reports and any document where the underlying data was tabular.
Conversion happens server-side in a single secure call. Your PDF is processed, an .xlsx file is returned, and the file is not stored or shared.
How to convert PDF to Excel
- Click 'Choose files' or drag and drop one or more PDFs onto the page.
- Open the options panel to fine-tune the result — adjust the column-gap threshold, freeze the header row, strip currency symbols when detecting numbers, or write each page to its own sheet.
- Click 'Convert' to download an .xlsx file (or a ZIP if you uploaded several PDFs).
Why use our PDF to Excel tool?
- Smart column detection: items are clustered into columns from their X coordinates with an adjustable gap threshold.
- Automatic number detection, with optional currency-symbol stripping so numeric cells stay numeric.
- Freeze the header row and add an auto-filter so you can scan large exports quickly.
- Choose one sheet per page or merge everything into a single sheet with an optional 'Page' column.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will scanned PDFs work?
No. The tool reads the embedded text layer of the PDF. Image-only scans need to be run through OCR first.
What about layouts with merged cells or multiple tables per page?
Pages with consistent columns convert cleanly. Heavily merged or multi-table pages may need a small touch-up in Excel after conversion.
